Spring Cleaning

Hello, blogger friends! It’s been awhile! I hope this finds you all well and happy. I’m sorry I haven’t been the best reader/commenter/liker lately, but my children have been off on Spring Break and as much as I love you all, there’s really no contest, I’m afraid. With them back at it today, I have been getting back on top of my house elf chores (Can you say ironing?? I might be done by the end of April!) and thinking up new ideas for posts and perhaps new series. I’ve re-vamped my layout a teensy weensy bit as an experiment, but there is more to come, I promise.

I don’t know about you, but this time of year – with the re-birth of all things green and Spring-y – feels like the real New Year. My husband is cleaning gutters and terrorizing hedges and I am throwing open windows, airing out rooms and sucking up dust elephants. (A tad stereotypical in the gender department, right? What can I say? It works for us.)

The Spring purge goes deeper than the superficial though as well. I am cleaning out all the things that drag me down – spiritually, emotionally, and mentally. I am getting my priorities back on track. I’m exploring a new volunteer position and Chloe and I made a (long overdue) visit downtown for a tour of Union Gospel Mission. They do wonderful things for the homeless here in Vancouver and while we have supported them for decades, I had not taken the opportunity to tour their new facility. It is beyond amazing and the thought that went into the new building is heart-warming beyond measure. (Many thanks to Ryan for the great tour!)

I toyed with the idea of giving up social media all together, but so many of you have made a very real difference to my life and I consider many of you to be BBFs (blogger best friends – via Kozo at everyday gurus – his “Small Penis Post” is to-die-for, btw. Please take a peek! It made my day/week/month/year!!). So, I’ll be sticking around. I am, however, going to indulge in a little social media bulimia and purge like there’s no tomorrow. I spent hours purging my Twitter account so that I could un-bury (and interact with) the people I most care about. {It doesn’t mean I don’t care about the (random) people I un-followed, it’s just that their self-promoting, spammy Tweets were clogging up my feed, man.}

If you’re still with me, I salute you. *hand to head* You’re a trooper and I freaking love you. Sadly, my time is at an end and I have a peep (or two) to pick up from school. I hope your Spring Break was equally relaxing and rewarding. I promise to catch up on my blog reading this week! Pinky swear. Much love, s. xoxo

  1. Yay, love the spring look. I feel less cluttered after reading this post. Maybe I won’t do much spring cleaning and just put your blog as my desktop. Thanks for the shout out, my BBF. {{{Hugs}}} Kozo

  2. Oh, I love the new look! 🙂 I’ve also started the spring-remake here and your post makes me wanna do even more sorting out/cleaning/re-arranging/airing/getting rid of all kind of stuff… It’s always great to know that there’s someone else having the same urge of cleaning up one’s life! 🙂

  3. Thanks, Breezy! You gotta love the lack of accountability in the blogosphere. Hell, I think I was supposed to have been losing weight this whole time. Oops! 🙂
